Game theory studies strategic interaction in competitive and cooperative environments. Half a century old, it has already revolutionized economics, and is spreading rapidly to a wide variety of fields. Game Theory Society Founded in January 1999, the Game Theory Society aims to promote the investigation, teaching, and application of game theory.

Every four years the Society hosts its World Congress. The first was held in Bilbao, Spain in 2000. The second was held in Marseille, France in 2004 and the third was on the Evanston Campus of Northwestern University, in the United States. The fourth World Congress will be held in July 2012 at Istanbul Bilgi University, in Istanbul, Turkey.

  • We are very sad to announce that Jean-François Mertens passed away on July 17, 2012. The organizing committee of GAMES 2012 expresses its sincere condolences to his family. The von Neumann Lecture that Jean-François Mertens prepared for the congress will be given by Abraham Neyman.
  • On July 21st, a shuttle service between hotel areas and Santral campus, will operate (from 15:00 to 19:00 for Taksim and Pera, and from 15:00 to 17:00 for old town and Sutluce areas). The last shuttle back to each of the hotel areas will leave Santral campus at 21:00. The pick up point for shuttles are: in front of the Grand Hyatt Hotel (Taskisla Caddesi) for the Taksim area, and in front of Pera Palace (Tepebaşı Çamlık Sokak) for the Pera area, in front of Hamidiye hotel for the old town area, and in front of the Hilton Garden Inn hotel for the Sutluce area.
  • POSTER SESSIONS: we recommend a poster consisting of a title bar at the top giving the title and authors name in large letters, capable of attracting attention from afar, and then consisting of nine paper-sized (about 8.5 x 11 in) frames, in a 3x3 array, that present the work. Thus, presenters will show up with a poster that might be something like 2/3 meter times a meter in size. We will provide whiteboards where to hang posters (with blue tag). A white board is 2m wide by 1.2 m high. So, presenters can think about using at most two boards (on one side only).
  • Turkish Airlines provides a special discount of 5% to 20% for participants who buy their tickets from travel agencies or Turkish Airlines offices. Participants are required to provide confirmation of registration to the congress and a discount code to benefit from this opportunity. Please contact Mrs. Yasemin Kirec (yasemin@delano.com.tr) for more information.
  • Deadline for cancellation of registration is June 15th. There will be no refund for cancellation after June 16th.
  • Deadline for hotel reservations with special congress rates is June 15th. Registrants won’t be able to book hotels using the registration system after June 16th.
  • Please note that there has been some changes in the social program in comparison to the earlier registration pages. A Congress Dinner has been scheduled on the 23rd of July, so the Bosphorus Cruise and the Gala Dinner have been merged and will be held on the 25th of July. We will be taken to the Gala Dinner venue by boat, which will give us a chance to cruise through the Bosphorus and enjoy the sights.
  • All sessions rooms are equipped with computer and projection facilities. So, bringing a usb key containing slides suffices. You can also bring your own laptop (however, we do not provide VGA adaptors for Apple computers). Please contact us in case your presentation requires an OHP.
